When We Are Closed
Newcastle Primary Care Trust provides an emergency only out-of-hours service from 6.30 pm to 8 am on weekdays, and at weekends and Bank Holidays. To access this service, phone 274 1840 and listen to the whole message. In the event of a serious emergency such as a suspected heart attack, collapse or severe bleeding, you should dial 999 for an ambulance.
Walk In Centres
There are 3 local NHS WALK IN CENTRES for minor injuries and ailments. One is situated atNewcastle General Hospital and is open from 8 am to 10 pm every day. The others are Central Station and Ponteland Road.

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
